HEY Amber ⁣⁣

I’m @amberbutchart, I’m a fashion historian, I spend a lot of time thinking about what clothes mean⁣⁣

Swimming in the sea, all year round. It’s an emotional reset⁣⁣

Wash a couple of times a week, and leave conditioner on for a long time. I also dye my hair so every 6 weeks or so I do that myself at home. I’ve been doing it now for about 25 years but I still find it incredibly tedious⁣⁣

As well as the obviously amazing results, I really love the smell! It’s gorgeously botanical without being floral – I don’t like really sweet smells, so I love that it’s so rich and woody, it smells so luxurious⁣⁣

When I was (much) younger I did some hair modelling for Vidal Sassoon. I loved the colours they used, from bright orange to vibrant red. But they once cut my hair into a mullet, live on stage, while being filmed for Hungarian MTV. There was nothing I could do. So this is also a hair nightmare⁣ ⁣

I’m half of a DJ duo, the Broken Hearts, and we have matching hair in red and black. In the past when we were DJing a lot, people would often think we were wearing wigs, and sometimes would try to literally pull our β€˜wigs’ off in clubs as we went past⁣⁣

I miss other countries so much. I miss experiencing new sights, flavours, smells, everything – so I have an enormous list. But if I was forced to choose one, I would visit Uzbekistan and tour all of the ikat weaving workshops⁣⁣

I followΒ @suekreitzman’s mantra: β€œDon’t wear beige, it might kill you.”⁣
