HI-TOP FADE

This hairstyle is best understood as a symbol of hip hop’s golden age. Dating back to the late 80s, the high top fade - often referred to as the ‘cameo cut’ - was popularised by rappers like Doug e. Fresh and Schooly D. This marked the beginning of its long-standing associations with inner-city style. As it stands, Benny Harlem holds the Guinness World record for the tallest top fade at an impressive 20.5 inches.
But whilst traditionally associated with men, this look was made iconic by no other than Grace Jones.
