HIGH PUFF

Any hairstyle immortalised in song is special, and the puff is one such prime example, celebrated as the subject of The Lady of Rage’s iconic 1995 single, Afro Puffs. Robin Allen first rapped about puffs as a guest on Snoop Dogg’s iconic G Funk Intro, before reinterpreting the lyrics for her brazenly feminine solo Death Row Records record. Fresh from the full, free styles of the 60s and 70s, a puff is a quick and easy styling option for Afro hair worn naturally and can be worn in one, two or multiple smaller sections. While double puffs might have once been kinda cutesy, they’re no longer for kids - think OITNB’s Black Cindy and Ciara at the Met Gala with jumbo puffs.
