RATTAIL

RATTAIL

The mullet’s less popular younger sibling, the rattail look consists of a long piece of hair growing down the back of the head – ideally in stark contrast to a shaved head or otherwise much shorter hair. Popular in the 80s amongst stars including Jordan Knight from New Kids on the Block and Corey Haim, the rattail is almost a grungier version of the 17th century lovelock; a trend for men to wear one section of hair on the left hand side longer and curled or braided over their heart. More recently, Shia LaBeouf and Argentine player Rodrigo Palacio have brought the trend back – and it surely can’t be long until it makes its way back into the mainstream.
