HEY Nadia
WHO
I am one of the SISTAS at my family cafe. I work with my mum and aunt. When I am not at the cafe I write, send handmade notes to those who need them and run workshops focusing on mindful wellbeing for young people
HOW ARE YOU DOING
Moving with life at the moment. The world’s a mess, but today I got lucky and caught some calm. Gratitude is what I am feeling right now
Listening
Cleo Sol’s new album’ Rose in the Dark’ + Joy Crookes music, reminds me of home and she’s lovely
Watching
I just watched a series of short films regarding the BLM events; the best one was ‘Respect Me, I’m a Doctor’. Highly Recommend
Reading
‘My name is Why ‘by Lemn Sissay
A SWEAR-BY BEAUTY TIP
Compare yourself to no one and be grateful for what you have. You are enough! And do not let the world tell you otherwise. And drink loads of water, but you’ve heard that before
LOVES
Jazz on moon soaked nights, Hampstead Ladies Ponds on sun-soaked days and dancing around like a wild thing, just me, music and darkness
WASH ROUTINE
Okay! So I am a full Dizziak Convert! I use the Hydrating Wash and then the Deep Conditioner that I use as a leave-in when I plait my hair! I then run some Rosehip oil from Neals Yard over the top, because I am EXTRA LOL!
HOW/WHY DIZZIAK
Moisture for one and as a black girl who has been through it with my hair! It makes me happy to support another woman who is making products that are nourishing for my hair and who cares so much about her business. It’s just good on all levels!
GREAT HAIR MEMORY
Sundays sitting on the living room floor, Amy Winehouse singing through the speakers, while my mum plaited me and my sister’s hair, ready for a new school week
NIGHTMARE HAIR STORY/STAGE
Bleaching it blonde ( cough cough orange ) because I thought I could channel my inner Beyonce / j.lo vibe without a hairdresser. Alas, my hair had other plans and snapped off. NEVER AGAIN. Smh
ICONIC FIGURE & WHY
Those who dedicate their lives to taking true care of others and their community have all my respect
IF YOU COULD GO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW, WHERE WOULD YOU GO
Jamaica! I’m three-quarters Jamaican and a quarter English. I have never been and want to explore my heritage in real life
WHAT’S THE ONE THING YOU WANT TO TELL THE PEOPLE OF 2020
Be the change you want to see
