LOCS

Faux locs are an alternative to traditional locs, and see extensions added into the hair through crochet braiding or cornrowing. People have incorporated extra hair into their own styles for thousands of years and in many cultures for long swathes of history, wearing artificial hair was the beauty standard. Early hair pieces would have been crafted from whatever was available – for those with money and status, it could have been human hair: for everyone else, wool, palm fibres and animal hair provided an alternative. Today’s crochet locs provide a flexible alternative to locing the hair as well as serving as a protective option.
